VIRTUAL IDENTITY: Caviar
The launch of caviar’s new site shows a clear-headed vision towards the future. It’s as much a destination as it is the company’s identity. In theory, caviarcontent could become the next YouTube, or at least that’s the thinking.
Who’s going to reign supreme as the industry continues to evolve? The traditional titans won’t last forever. No one has really figured out the formula for success in the ever-changing media landscape, but if there’s one production company that’s coming close, it’s caviar.
Caviar established itself this past year as a leader in the elusive branded content field, with Gatorade: Replay from newbie commercial directors Kris & Scott; avant-garde heavy Keith Schofield’s K-Swiss, Sony Bloggie and Diesel XXX; and the current online blow-up Toyota “Swagger Wagon” Rap from Jody Hill. Taking culturally relevant talent from outside the industry has proven to be their forte, with recent signings that define the New Wave of comedy: Jorma Taccone (Lonely Island, SNL Digital Shorts and feature film “Macgruber”, released this week); Jason Woliner (Human Giant, “Eagleheart” with Chris Eliot premiering soon on Adult Swim); and Jake Szymanski (Funny or Die). To top it all off is their latest signing of long-time commercial director Patrick Sherman, who comes over from Anonymous Content to round out their roster.
And, bet you didn’t know that caviar has produced 8 feature length films - one of which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival this year, and just screened at Tribeca. The full films site is coming soon, so stay tuned.
It’s also one of the first sites designed to work across platforms - iPhone and iPad included.
Thanks for looking! Check back often :)
