PRESS: Gentleman Scholar at The Whitehouse
Gentleman Scholar, a multimedia production studio, opens at The Whitehouse this week.
The venture, in partnership with editorial powerhouse, The Whitehouse, Santa Monica is the collaboration of veteran Executive Producer, Rob Sanborn and award-winning Directors/Designers William Campbell and Will Johnson. Gentleman Scholar represents a new breed of creative talent that crosses genres, platforms and mediums. Indicative of where the industry’s headed, their first few projects run the gamut from an animated short that they’ve just submitted to Sundance to a national campaign for Chevron that marries live-action with motion graphics. Additionally, they’ve completed work for National Geographic, Chevrolet and Nintendo, among other things.
Who’s Rob Sanborn?
Rob has been in design-driven production since escaping to Los Angeles from Kentucky in 1995. He’s produced for the likes of Imaginary Forces, MK12, Digital Kitchen and, most recently, Superfad. Rob’s producing portfolio is chock full of film titles, music videos, promos, short films, environmental pieces, and converging media prototypes. His extensive background in branding and evolving media laid the foundation for his keen grasp of integrated campaigns.
Who’s William Campbell?
William comes from a family of artists. His diverse skill set offers him a unique perspective on commercial production and technical innovation. After graduating from SCAD, he honed his skills as Art Director with Superfad, LA. He’s created multiple AICP-winning spots that are now part of the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection. In 2008 he was awarded the Boards Magazine Designer of the Year. He has since gone on to direct several commercials, music videos and short films, including a 2009 Sundance and SXSW selection for the short film, “The Nature Between Us.”
Who’s Will Johnson?
Will has spent the majority of his life in the Northwest and in the South, surrounded by creative people and their artistic endeavors. After graduating from SCAD, Johnson returned to the West Coast to spend four years at Superfad as an Art Director. He led the production of some of the company’s highest profile commercials and campaigns to date.
